Valley of Flowers Trek

The Valley of Flowers Trek starts from a little hamlet called ‘Govind Ghat which is situated in close to Joshimath. An amalgamation of enchanting aromas from the carpeting flowers swirl through the valley, putting trekkers in a daze.

Shri Hemund Sahib, A scared Sikh shrine is located on the shores of the Hemkund Lake at 4320mtrs from sea level. It is the place where tenth and last Guru, Shri Guru Govind Singh, unified with God after prolonged meditation in his previous birth which has been mentioned in his autobiography. The trek demands a thrilling climb to reach destination where you must take prashad of delicious hot langar.
Nestled at spcetacular altitude of 14,400 ft., the valley of flower is habitat to countless exquisite floral species that carpet the trails. It is a part of the Nanda Devi National Park which was declared a national park in 1982.
Valley of Flowers remains covered with a thick layer of snow in the winter season, while carpeted by aromatic Flowers during Monsoon Season.
Valley of Flowers is first climbed by the British mountaineer Frank Smythe in 1931. The Valley of Flowers trek situated in the upper expanses of Bhyundar Ganga near Joshimath in the Pushpawati valley 23 km north-northwest of Nanda Devi Park.
Legends believes that it is the place from where Hanuman had collected the Sanjeevani buti for curing Lakshmana.
An alpine lake nestled in the laps of the Himalayas, Shri Hemund Sahib is a sacred place for Sikh and Hindu religion. It is a 15 km trek from Govindghat, which is gateway to the Bhyundar or Lakshman Ganga valley.
The trail to Shri Hemkund Sahib takes passes through forests of pine and rhododendron where wild roses, ferns and alpine flowers bloom. You can spot surging waters of the Lakshman Ganga. The last 5km of the route is very steep climb from Ghangharia, which is a base Hemkund and Valley of Flowers.
Day 0:
Delhi to Haridwar overnight journey.
Day 1:
Haridwar to Joshimath (256 km/10 hrs drive)
Day 2:
Joshimath to Ghangaria via Govindghat (36 km drive + 6 hrs trek)
Day 3:
Ghangariya to Valley of Flowers and back (8 km/7 hrs trek)
Day 4:
Ghangariya to Hemkund Sahib and back (11km/ 7hrs trek)
Day 5:
Ghangariya to Joshimath via Govindghat
Day 6:
Joshimath to Haridwar. Overnight journey back to Delhi.
